Dr. Velimir Zivkovic, MJur (Magister Juris) an Associate Professor and Director of master’s programs (LLM) in International Commercial Law, International Economic Law, and International Corporate Governance at the University of Warwick School of Law, United Kingdom.
Velimir is an independent consultant and counsel specializing in investor-State, commercial, and sports arbitration. He also serves as an arbitrator, currently at ICAC – UCCI in Kiev, Ukraine. He has provided counsel or consulting services in disputes under various institutional rules across multiple jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, Serbia, Russia, Ukraine, Montenegro, Lithuania, North Macedonia, and others.
Before joining Warwick, Velimir was a Research Fellow with the Berlin/Potsdam Research Group “International Rule of Law – Rise or Decline?” and completed his PhD in Law at the London School of Economics. He holds a cum laude undergraduate degree (2008) and an LL.M (2009) from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law. In 2011, he completed his Magister Juris at the University of Oxford, receiving Distinction and the Best Overall MJur Performance Proxime Accessit prize.
From 2012 to 2018, Velimir served as an Associate Researcher at the Institute of Comparative Law in Belgrade. His previous consultancy roles include working on World Bank and Swiss government-funded projects aimed at improving the rule of law in South-East Europe.
Velimir’s academic and professional focus includes international investment law, international arbitration, international contracts, and the rule of law.
He is fluent in English and has working knowledge of French and German.
